Ha! My goldfish tries to keep me up all night too with all of his flipping and flopping (I think he's got a temperamental side). I usually just shut the door because he's in a seperate room, but we also shut the door because the filter that is sometimes in there makes bubbling noises all night long.

try putting it in another room and put something over the bowl or if in tank turn out the light and I think that this will help.
