I usually talk to someone who will cheer me up, make me laugh.
I love to laugh, that helps, maybe a funny show or movie.
Happy music is helpful. Get your spirits up.
I also like to work out, be active to get blood pumping. Better when you're listening to music.
Think about stuff, keep a personal journal, if you don't want to talk about it, it ALWAYS feels better to write it out.
Go out with your friends, get a massage, go shopping, take a bubble bath.
Those kinds of things help me out when there's a gray cloud over my head.
Hope they help you!

What I do & what I "should" do are two totally different things...

I bet the physical "get the blood moving" would be great for the body, but when I feel depressed I don't really have the drive to do ANYTHING. Therefore ...

If I'm home alone I usually eat some "comfort food" (whatever I'm craving at the time regardless of the fat or caloric content) & watch a movie that'll make me laugh. Then I read a few chapters of a good "escape-type" book & then go to sleep.

If I'm in my car I listen to my favorite music turned up REAL LOUD & sing along.

Now ... I'm usually not home alone as I'm married & have 3 kids so I usually just get moody & snap at everyone. If my husband is in an understanding mood he'll take care of the kids & let me go take a warm bath & I'll have a glass of wine & I'll just try to relax & get things back into perspective.

I feel like this happens to me more than it does to others.

It does help to have a few alcoholic drinks, like 3, but then stop. It may not be the healthiest route to go.

Being with people that cheer you up helps, or being on the phone with them.

Writing in a diary about your anxiety helps.

Heavy excercise really helps me, it burns out the stress.

Crying feels good, but it can be scary because it can sometimes make you feel much worse because it makes you realize really how sad you are.

Sex helps if you have that option, or just a strong hug.

If I can't interrupt my day, I will totally OD on any kind of caffiene, so I get a hyper buzz, it feels great. I try any way I can to alter my mood.

Icecream or chocolate. Fatty meal like fast food sometimes helps.

After doing 1, 2, or a combo of these, it can be best to go to sleep, sleep is when you tend to get refreshed and have the chance to start over emotionally tomorrow.
I recommend trying some of these, or maybe do a combo or sequence of them. Ofcourse they are all short term "uppers".

Sounds funny but just get out and exercise... Really, exercise regulates serotonin and dopamine levels in your brain( the happy substances that release to make you feel better and more balanced). After a stressful day at work and i feel totally down over the days events, i go for a brisk walk for about 10-15 mins. or go to the gym and walk on the tread mill. Try it. Oh and don't forget to try and eat right and drink plenty of water(8glasses). If things don't get any better after a month go and see your MD. Hope this helps Walk on!!!!

There is always a reason. I learned how to figure out why I;m depressed and what I need to do to turn things around - result: I no longer feel depressed.

I take a long hot bath and pamper myself. Nothing so soothing as a hot bath.

Shopping usually works for me too!

Woman who have PMS (mild or severe) go through cycles of feeling depressed or down every month. I deal with it for about 2-3 days out of every month.

I eat lots of chocolate too. That makes me feel better.
