My daughter is 12 and stays up all night on weekends and til 10 or so during the week . Her room is right next door. My husband says I should lock the door and she will figure it out, but I feel very uncomfortable with this. She occasionally comes to the door at night wanting something so we never have sex unless she is not at home. What do you do about this? Is this when the sex life is over for otherwise happily married couples.

Don't let that stop you I mean i have been there just the other night my son heard us and he didn't like it to good.He told me we should not do that I said son we are husband and wife and we can do it and when its time for you to go to bed you go to bed and don't be getting up...Or you will just hear it again.

You continue to have a sex life because you stop worrying about the kids so much. Especially since she is 12 and perfectly capable of being on her own for a little while while mom and dad have some alone time. We just lock the door and let the world take care of itself for a little while. Stop being so controlling. Let her know if she comes to the door and the door is locked, she is to go away.

I have a 8 year old and understand the age diff, but she gos to bed at 8pm school nite and weekends she can stay up later. Now we wait till she is fast a sleep, then do our thing! If that works for us? Could you give her a room away from yours and just keep your door shut , put a sign on it that says," if door is closed please knock" Explain that when its closed that mom and dad are spending time together. If that don't work tell her when the door is closed and if she keeps from bothering you all while spending mommy and daddy time, you will take her out for ice cream the next day!!!!!!

Wait a minute, who is running the show here? You need to take control of your daughter by telling her that you and your husband will be going to bed and give her a set time for her to go to bed as well. Tell her that you don't want her to come knocking on your door, only if it is an emergency, be firm with her. Take control of the situation, don't let your daughter control you two. I really think that your husband needs to tell her this, because you seem to let her get her way.
Lock your bedroom door! You husbands need to inform her that when you two go to bed, it means that you guys will not answer the door unless an emergency. If she whines about it, just ignore her, she just wants to get her way. Don't let this get in your way with wanting to have passionate love making with your husband.
Your sex life will be over when you let your daughter get her way. Take control!

the lock on the door is good idea as long as you unlock it when the sex is finished. maybe she could have a bedroom in the basement or something better for both of you .
other then that you might arrange sex with your hubby early in the morning.
heck you could get him to sound proof either your bedroom wall or the girls wall . either way its not hard and it would help with your noises and help keep the kids radio from blasting out your brains.

I like yourself worried about my children coming to the bedroom while my husband and I were having our alone time.. If you worry to much about this your marriage just might end up in trouble. I have learned to lock the door and turn the tv on in our room and keep the noise down.My children are 14,12,11,8.

You have sex period. Stop worrying about what you kids will think. Your sex life is over if YOU make it so. Tell your daughter to stop coming ot your door at night, she's 12 years old she can get what she needs by herself.

Lock the door, and try not to make any noise during event? i don't know or wait until she gets married, then you and your husband can have the rest of the time all to yourselves
