Is it possible to convert a non US cell phone to a US cell phone?

I have a Motorola V3i cell phone that I purchased on Ebay. I'm having issues with it making or receiving calls, I have sent it away to Motorola and they said that they cannot do anything with the phone, come to find out that the software in the phone is from another country and Motorola US cannot do anything with it. I would like to know if there is a way to convert this cell phone with different US Software?

This phone is already unlocked, and will work with any sim that I put into it. I'm just wondering if it is possible to flash this phone with a US version software, and where I might find this flash.

What you need to do is unlock the phone with certain unlocking codes which can be bought here:

If thats not the case and the phone runs on a sim card then thats all you need to do, change the sim card.

if the phone is unlocked you can use any sim you want, if it is not unlocked any cell store can unlock it for a fee, this is legal, you may also look to see if they can flash the us version of the software on the phone, that may be alittle more difficult in finding, depending on the availability of that phone, or similar software for the us.. however it should work in the us

is the phone locked (locked on a specific network ) or unlocked??
do u see a name of a service provider on the phone not in the screen obut on the phone itself. and what is the service u want to use here in the US???
