I shower daily, use antibacterial soap, use a great antipersperant (the problem isn't sweating, it's the smell) and have tried many deodorants. Yet, I still smell.

My social life has been ruined by this, because c'mon, who wants to be around someone who smells. Plus, since I know I smell, I don't have the self-confidence to approach people and show them how funny/nice/interesting I really am.

I TIRED of people walking into a room and saying "it smells disgusting in here."

Is there any advice you can give on possibly a pill I could take to solve this awful problem. By the way, I'm a 16 year old GUY, and am too embarrased to talk to my parents about this (I don't have that type of relationship with them, so that's out of the question)...so I can't go to the doctor.

You need to go to a doctor. Just tell your parents you don't feel well or something, and when you go in tell the doc. They can help you.

I saw a piece on 20/20 about a condition called trimethylaminuria. It makes a person smell like old fish. No matter how many times you shower or put on deodorant, you still can smell it. It is rare, but there are others like you. Check on the web for that condition. I saw that there is a web support group. They might have some answers for you. Hope this helps.

You have my sympathies...this is a really tough problem to have. I would suggest that you muster up the courage to talk to your parents about your problem...they must on some level be already aware of it, since you said that others are. Your parents are probably just as embarrased to bring it up to you, since they are afraid to hurt you. But it sounds like you're doing everything possible. So the problem may have a medical cause, which means you really need to see a doctor about it. In the meantime, do you eat any pungent foods (fish, curry, lots of garlic, etc), sometimes that can come through your pores. But talk to your parents - they love you and want to help you.

Teenaged ppl tend to be rebellious and make themselves believe that they are not that attached to their parents. But you are thoroughly underestimating their love for you.

Physical troubles like these are quite common during teenages. Men and women have problem. If not your parents then whom else are you goin to depend upon.

So stop being so proud and gather the courage and open up just once to them. you will feel so good you talked to them. And go to a doc. If you believe that the problem is so serious, then no one but doctor is the person who can help you.

So you have two choices...

you keep quiet and suffer

Tell your parents and go see a doc and cure it.

It is probably diet related. It sounds like you may be taking too many supplemental vitamins or a medication that may have an adverse affect. Typically taking too many vitamins, some medications, or too much of a particular food will cause an odor that permeates through your skin. I would suggest that you review your diet and start by eliminating certain elements of your diet until you find the culprit.

Talk to your parents about some counseling. If that doesn't work, talk to your school counselor. That should help your mental issues. As far as your parents are concerned with discipline, grades should come, before social life. I have a 15 year old,son and I hear a lot of these things from him too. You aren't alone.

My boyfriend of three years has the same problem. I hate it, but he is a total sweety. I have gotten him to start eating better, and the problem has mostly gone away, but sometimesa even when he gets out of the shower, it's like, i love you, but you stink! Start drinking plenty of water and eating more fresh fruits and veggies. even if you don't eat like a pig, some people have very adverse olfactory reactions to certain foods. and if people are rude enough to mention smells all the time, then they are just trashy anyways.

Tell them you want to see a doctor for a different reason, make up something, then tell the doctor when you get there that you lied because you can't talk to your parents and tell him the real problem. Say your leg hurts or something and you want it checked out.

You can go to your local Health Department without your parents knowing. They possible can help you. My daughter had some what of this problem and it turned out she was sweating garlic and other spices she had eaten. We cut out the garlic and she was OK. Now has outgrown the problem.

one try washing all your clothes and not rewearing them. Do what you are doing and put on powder under your arms and in your groin. Maybe your feet smell so put powder in your shoes and change your shoes daily. Take a bath once a week with banking soda. Also get some femine wash for your groin it will help with odor down there

Maybe it's what youre eating. Some foods, such as garlic emits smell thru the skin. This odor can be very foul!!!
Try changing your diet. If there is something you eat alot, try giving that up for a while and see if that helps.
The odor may not be B.O., it may be Food Odor.....
Good Luck.
