you cant go to jail unless the person is a minor. it could be put aganist you if you get divorced, your ex could say you cheated, and end up with more money. also you should try and work things out before you start sleeping around. it will hurt your ex a lot, and not help if there are children involved. i hope everything works out for the best for you! good luck

Conflict or anger itself does not have to cause an irreparable rift between partners. With good communication skills and a shared commitment to a marriage, even these are surmountable. How to save your marriage https://tr.im/10tGw

However, at that point where one partner is at the brink of abandoning the relationship, how can the remaining partner save their marriage? If you are at the point where your spouse has asked for a divorce, what can you do?

You must realize first that, you do have a choice. Often, when confronted by a crisis, we find ourselves backed into a corner thinking we have no choice in the matter. How can we change the situation when it involves another person's feelings or decisions? While we cannot, must not and in no way manipulate, blackmail or threaten our partner into changing their mind, we can actually control how we react to the situation. If anything, you must realize that you still have control over yourself. You have the opportunity to look inward and take responsibility for your own feelings and actions and even have the chance to take personal inventory of what your partner is trying to tell you. Are there points in your marriage that must be changed? If so, respond appropriately and proactively.

Lucky for you no you can't go to jail for it but if you lived
in Turkey you could and if you lived in an old villiage you
could get stoned for it. That is why marriage is not taken
seriously anymore in parts of the western world because
people can get away with a lot.

All the other answers are wrong. Some states already have adulterey on their books as a crime. In Michigan, it's a felony. It's just not usually prosecuted. This year, some states are debating whether to start punishing people for it. I think it is a crazy idea but some lawmakers think this will make them look more family oriented.

Officially it is adultery if you are not divorced. But can you go to jail for it, no. If everyone who had an affair or was dating someone before their divorce went to jail, no one would be out on the streets.

Actually the law you are specifically talking about already exists in Michigan.. adultry there is a felony (its rarely enforced though) as for can they "DO THAT" Oh sure they can... you can pass just about any law you want passed if you get the legislative support for it... No smoking laws, seatbelt laws, helmet laws, no spitting on the sidewalk laws, no jaywalking laws etc etc. Why not an anti-adultry law.. actually anti adultry laws used to be the norm in the USA not all that long ago.. (still is in several states.. but again rarely enforced) Life in prison for cheating? Hmm maybe a good idea after all

In Canada there is no adultery laws. However, some states in the U.S. have some crazy freaky laws so I'd say if you live in Alabama or Mississipi or some such place you should look it up in the law books. Some countries in other parts of the world do discriminate against women and have laws if women adulterize.
