and will it die if i dont due anything? its infront of the glass of my 40 gal just swiming in place its been like 20 minutes and every now and then it will swim normally but come back to the same spot and just swim in place

Honestly, in my opinion it's just a cichlid being a cichlid and doing wierd cichlid stuff. I have noticed exactly the same behavoir in several different cichlids over the years. I think it's prety well normal and nothing at all to be concerned over. You say he swims normally around tha tank from time to time, so obviously he can, I think it's just a matter of wanting to stay in that spot for some reason.
