I'll help you with the first one, that should explain the others.

You have to replace y=x-6 for y in y=x+2
So.......................................x-6=x+2
Then just solve, moving the numbers to the right, x=x+2+6
Which gives you x=x+8
Then move your x over to the left, x-x=8
Which gives you the answer of 8.

Good luck on the other ones!

The slope of the line y=x-6 is 1. In order to be parallel, the new line must have the same slope. Answer C has a slope of 3 so it can not be the answer. The other 3 have a slope of 1

The line parallel takes the form y = x+C where C is a constant that must still be found.
Plug in the point that is known, This gives us:
2=1+C
Solving for C gives us:
C=1
Therefore the line must be
y = x + 1 so the answer must be B

The equation of a line is y = mx + b where m is the slope and b is the y-intercept. Parallel lines have the same slope. You have a value for x and a value for y. Plug those numbers into the equation and you get 2 = 1x1 + b. Subtract 1 from both sides and b = 1 so your answer is y = x + 1. Choice B.

A. Y=x+2
b/c in the form y=mx+b b is the y intercept and m is the slope.
If a point of the line passes through (1,2) the y-intecept is 2. In the line y = x – 6 the slope is one since the x does no have a variable infront of it. Any parallel line with this would result in the same slope. so m=1 and b=2
plug in
Y=mx+B
Y=1x=2
y=x+2

parallel lines have the same slope. knowing slope intercept form to be y=mx + b where m is the slope, we can determine the slope of the line withthe equation y=x-6.
y=x-6
y=1x - 6...m=1

now point slope form is used if given the point (x1, y1) and a slope, m.

(y-y1) = m (x - x1)

use (1,2) as (x1, y1) and m=1

(y - 2) = 1 (x - 1)
y - 2 = x - 1 -->add 2 to both sides
y = x + 1 --> B
