Amazing how the President's supporters are always using the troops as a weapon against those who don't support the President's Iraq policy. Funny that once a soldier is wounded and started down the road to rehabilitation, those same people don't seem to care. The secretary of the army is clueless, and the top general in charge of such matters is also clueless. If those two men don't care enough to be informed of the conditions our troops are made to endure on their road to recovery, what does that say about the overall thinking process towards the troops in general? After serving their country, they might as well be discarded on the side of the road in the middle on nowhere. Support the troops my rear end. They support war, period. To you personally, thanks for serving.

Don't forget the women vets too!
This is a national disgrace! Can anyone really be surprised, though? "Support the Troops" is just a hollow slogan to this administration. Support them while they're able-bodied and can further the cause of corruption and fraud to enrich defense contractors like Haliburton in Iraq, but once they've lost a limb or two, throw them in a roach motel while they're recuperating - costs a lot less that way.
America has never really cared to face the REAL war... what happens to soldiers once they've given their health and sanity for "the cause" (whatever cause we're supposed to embrace.) One huge problem with Iraq is that so many more soldiers are surviving what were once fatal wounds, and therefore require help many more years than we had to deal with.
Screw the Iraq people and the mess we started over there - bring our men and women home now before we lose thousands more to this atrocity! If anyone in this country is insane enough to believe this is a just cause, then get your **** away from your computer and sign up for the military NOW if it's so righteous!

Haven't you had ENOUGH!? To Hell with the white men in stiff short hair!! They're all over every channel-- from news to entertainment TV and the country doesn't even look like them anymore.
Americans need to demand that Maimed Veterans of every race and religion be revered on TV, displayed in all their Glory and interviewed on Every Topic Under the Sun! Including WAR! Start demanding the right to see more maimed Heros. NOW.

The conditions at Walter Reed are not GWB's problem, this is a GSA problem. Someone is falling down on the job at the GSA, but now that it's gotten the proper attention, Walter Reed will be back up to speed ASAP. Say, aren't they planning on closing Walter Reed hospital, soon?
If this is true, it makes sense to avoid repairs that won't be necessary over the long term.

I agree with you that no vet should be treated that way.... but I wouldn't go that far to blame President Bush. The fault lies with Secretary of Defense.
