Unless you are sleeping with her, I am pretty sure you can't get one from being near her....and why does everyone in the school know this? That's just weird...like who goes around talking about this to the entire school? And if you have a way to get her to the doctor, then why not just drive her to the doctor? I really don't understand why the big fuss?

Yeast infections are not contagious, unless you guys are wearing each other's underwear. If she has a yeast infection, she can go to the drugstore and get some Vagisil or something. If she's never had a YI before she should get it check out at a doctor just to make sure it's not something else. Tell her to wear cotton underwear. You get yeast infections if you don't let "down there" breathe enough. Yeast infections are normal (although unpleasant) and every woman at some point in her life has had one. I don't know why everyone in your school knows she has a yeast infection, but if that's how y'all handle your business, then so be it.

Ok, a yeast infection can occur for any reason.
She isn't nasty or dirty because she has one.

You can get them from the body naturally growing to much yeast in the area.
From birth control
From soaps...from all sorts of things...

She can go to the store and buy a 10.00 yeast infection medication and be done with it.

You wont get one from being by her
Geez! Don't moms teach there kids anything now a day!

It will clear up with the meds...She doesn't have to go to the dr. Just the store...and no one has to know...

And if she was one of your best friends you wouldn't dump her because of a stupid yeast infection!!

Hello, I'm on the second week and seeing definite improvement on my yeast infection symptoms:
https://bitly.im/aME3j

Note that: If the yeast infection doesn't respond to over the counter treatment, prescription medication will likely be necessary. Similarly, if the symptoms return after two months of being treated, you should contact the doctor for professional treatment rather than resorting again to home treatment.

If this is the first time you have experienced a yeast infection, you should schedule an appointment to have the condition treated by a doctor instead of resorting to home treatment

Well you can't get a yeast infection from staying or hanging around someone often. Form what my mom told me Yeast infections are very normal for a girl to have. She always told me i would get them from wearing tight pants but i haven't. Just tell her to go to the doctor and get it checked out to be on the safe side.

I'm a nurse. There is a medication OTC in your local drug store. Ask the pharmacist for a generic type for a yeast infection. The thing with self treatment is that it might be something else. If she is having the same symptoms after let's say three days, she should see a doctor.

you won't get a yeast infection just by being next to someone. Be a good friend and help your friend get to the doctors. They will prescribe her a cream and the infection will go away within a few days.

go to walmart and get some monistat. that should do the trick.

I quote:

vaginal yeast infections are caused by Candida albicans, which, along with a few types of bacteria, are normally present in relatively small numbers in your crotch. sometimes the yeast multiply rapidly and take over, causing a full-fledged yeast infection, or, in the heart-warming terminology of the medical establishment, candidiasis or monilia. this can be due to a change in the vaginal environment, injury, sexual transmission, or HIV. common environmental disruptions that favor yeast include increased pH, increased heat and moisture, allergic reactions, elevated sugar levels, hormonal fluxes, and reductions in the populations of bacteria that are normally present. these can generally be traced to a few categories of culprits:
clothing, antibiotics, chemicals, condoms, diet, injury, hormones, sexual transmission or weakened immune system.

So, as long as you are not having sex with her, you should be fairly safe. It is not transmitted by hanging out.
