When standing up or even sitting down, I get back pain. Sometimes, it'll get to the pont where I need to sit down or slouch. I'm really tired of it. I sound so neourotic to my parents, and this is just another thing they think is normal. Is almost-unbearable backpain normal at 13?

it could be your bag. take out some books and carry them in your arms. it would be good to see your doctor for more info just to be sure. it could also be your posture. everytime you remember that you need to improve your posture, sit up straight, it works for me.

It could be because you've got a really big rack which puts pressure on your back, but more than likely it's because of poor posture. Your spine is getting used to that type of posture so that's why it feels good when you slouch.
Imagine that your spine is a rope that connects your butt to the top of your head. Try to stretch the rope by sitting up straight. This is an exercise that will eventually correct the pain.

I had back pain when I was a teenager also. The docter said the best thing to do is exercise. Making your abs stronger helps relieve back stress and stretching is good for relaxing your back also. I found that pilates works best for me.

When I was 13, my back hurt me a lot. Everybody said it was just my posture, but it really turned out to be scoliosis. If you haven't been checked for scoliosis and you try straightening your posture, then I would reccommend being checked for scoliosis.

No, but you may be experiencing "growing pains".
How long has it been going on? Are you growing fast now?
