I have seen this happen with very long file names. One thing you can try but be very careful. Move everything out of that folder into another leaving just the one file. Now delete the folder with the file inside it. Now rename the other folder back to the original name. Be very careful that you don't delete the wrong folder by mistake.

If its not deleting then it might be associated by any other programme and which would be running the file so windows wont allow u to download the file unless u shutdown that programme or delete it so right click on the folder and check for the location of the file and see weather its linked with any other programme other than windows media player , there could be one more possibility if u have downloaded that song from any downloading software like lime wire then that software wont give u permission to delete the file unless u stop the programme .

Have you tried selecting the file then pressing the DELETE key on the keyboard?

Your computer may be set to display files that are normally hidden like .dll or .thm files. Some files are regenerated.

Can you resubmit the question with more detail, like the name of the file or what is the file extension?

It seems to me it is a music file that you downloaded that has the copy protection on it. So try this first, right click on it and go into properties. click on the general tab on top and see if it is check read only. If it is, unclick it and click apply. this should allow you to delete the file.

Hope this helps.

I'm afraid there isn't a way to delete this file, it may be necessary for Windows Media Player to work correctly.

if there is no button to click on, use what i like to call a shortcut, very easy, all you do is select the file you want(make it sort of grayish) then hold SHIFT and DELETE, not backspace, ppl get delete and backspace messed up, make sure its delete and it should work

Restart your pc in safe mode, when turning on your pc hit the f8 key then go into safe mode and then you will be able to delete it. Also run a virus scan since you can't delete it.

Is it a music or program file? If music, look for "move on boot" on Yahoo/Google.
