Just about anything. Little danger of frosts. Where in California is the question.

Like the others who responded the where in California is important. I live in the bay area and we can plant things like lettuce, chard, onions, parsley, peas, fava beans, spinach, cabbage and other leafy crops for veggies.
For flowers it is a great time for bare root roses, plant glad bulbs now as well as late spring ranculous. Pansies and primroses are available at the nurseries and many herbs like rosemary, thyme and oregano are starting to come in.
It is still too early for tomatoes, eggplant, peppers, squash, cucumbers, melons and basil.
In So. Cal. you can probably go with the warmer season crops depending on where you are and what your average temps are.

Oh please, WHAT PART OF CALIFORNIA??? The state covers multple zones. My brother hit me with a snow ball(natural) on a visit to Yosemite on July 3rd one year. Do you southern Californians think that 's all there is to your state??? Give me a break.
