Obviously, there has been a great deal of discussion about this topic on Yahoo. What I find interesting is that many of the comments left are filled with a venom normally reserved for the Religion section.

My question is directed towards the skeptics, because I already know the believer's answer...Why is this an emotional issue for you (if it is)? What would some of the consequences be if you're right and Global Warming is a myth, but we take action anyway?

And what if you're wrong? I know you believe you are not, and I respect that, but I'd like you to hypothosize.

I can honestly say that I do not fear global warming; not for my generation (Baby Boomer) or that of my children or grandchildren.

When meteoroligists from the National Weather stations have gotten into their research (and they are specialists in their own right and education) they are saying that the scientists, like with many other issues are getting carried away.

There is something that people should understand. This planet used to be about 1/2 ice. Sounds crazy and forgive me if my figure is off a tad; however, we have been a naturally warming planet by millions of decades of natural global warming. Another thing to consider is look at how many times scientists claimed as a certainty that we were going to get hit by giant asteroids and experience a winter that we would probably not survive.

If we take everything they say as gospel, we will be running around in a constant fear and panic screaming ..."the sky is falling...the sky is falling"...when of course we ALL know, that the sky falling would never be a logical issue for discussion.

So, we've been thawing out for millions of years, and it is my belief that as the universe keeps expanding (which there is true evidence of such) our galexy as we know it will go though all sorts of changes. Just as in the theory of Pangea...our lands have split and evolved on their own, without human intervention. It's just more the natural order of things. Even so is the currents changing direction deep within the oceans and the magnetic poles of the earth going through the cycles of change ever so many hundreds of thousand of year. We are amidst that change; however, I don't believe man is making things all that much worse. I mean, if you see it from a scientific point of view, man has been developing all this time. I'm certain that fossel fuels have something to do with it, so we should look for alternatives, which they are doing now. There is even video evidence that GWB is taking trips to the places where alternatives are being researched and created.

Man could only evolve so fast and this holds true for our changes that must be made as well.

Sorry for any typos. I'm in a bit of a rush and spell check is never ending.

I hope this is what you were looking for in an answer.

The only fact you have, and the only one liberals mention, is that all scientists agree that global warming is real, which is an outright lie. The ones with government grants say it's real otherwise their funding would stop. So they tell you what to believe and you believe it with no additional evidence. That's not science. There is no critical thinking in just believing what you're told. There is no direct evidence whatsoever that CO2 produced by man is changing earth's climate. That's a fact. ====================== What you're saying just isn't accurate. Climate can and does change rapidly on its own. Greenland was once a Viking colony, and then the climate changed and they were all wiped out. And overwhelming DATA means nothing on its own. The data has to show something, and scientists such as NASA's James Hansen have even been caught faking data on global warming.

Well, Let's say global warrming is real. It can't be stoped by using a differant light bulb or driving a fuel efficient vehicle. They still polute. I find it funny that the politicans that screams the most about global warming pollutes the most. Gore is on his movie world tour flying in a private jet. Pelosi wants the biggest plane out there. I saw Senotor Obama talking on conserving fuel in western Illinois. After the town hall meeting, he left in a s.u.v. convoy. I betcha Gore, Pelosi, and Senator Obama lives in some big mannsion that uses a lot electricty and took a lot of trees to build. Do want your grocery stores shelves stocked? Produce and all other goods comes on big-trucks. Big-trucks can burn over a 100 gallons of fuel a day easy. That is some thing that can't be stoped. If big-trucks stop the U.S.A. would be a third world country in a week. Farmers, trains, and planes are very valuable to our ecomey. All three burns a lot of fossil fuels. Farmers has it tough enough already. Let's not make more restrictions on them. After all, we have to eat. Yes, we can pollute less but a pollution free world will not exist or work out. Ask Pelosi to give up her wings for a three wheel electric car. Electric car? Where does electricity comes from. Oh, powerplants. Powerplants throws pollution like you would not believe. So let's give up lights, hot water heaters, dryers, and our computer boxes. We can officialy stop global warming if we all start living like cavemen. I do not want to go that far.

Environmentalism is a religion, only this religion can be disproved. There are some common sense thing you can do to protect the environment. You generally won't find these things being talked about by the fringe left.

The earth has been warming and cooling for millions of years. It happes all the time. Our climate has never been consistent.

Isn't it better to think there's no such thing as global warming? It's like living a moment at a time-- to hell with the future!
