Who is the most overrated player in the MLB right now. I'd have to go with David Ortiz. He doesn't play defense, so he should never win MVP, unless he hits 100 HR's

I would have to agree with you and say david ortiz. Your right he never should win mvp. You have to actually play the game to win mvp not just walk up there. He is a great hitter and a great clutch performer but all he does is hit he doesn't have to endure what the rest of the players do.

Keith W has a real good point about Matsuzaka but I'd have to say Jason Varitek. He may handle a pitching staff well but he is a below average thrower. Him winning the gold glove in 05 was an absolute joke, he can't throw base runners out if it was Ortiz running.
Oh and Ballzy i don't think players in the MVP race are very overrated. The guy means more to the Yankees then any other player means to his team, but im just assuming your a red sox fan have your heads so far stuck up Manny and David's *** you acually don't know how a true player is supposed to act. Acting like a retard on the field and trying to promote yourself for the MVP and still getting praise by MLB "experts" is overrated.

Well, if your gonna say that about Ortiz, you are basically saying the same for Manny. Its just the way baseball is, 'chicks dig the long ball.' There are several more overrated players in baseball, take Mark Prior for one.

Aramis Ramirez. He puts up good numbers because he plays well when it doesn't matter, but he falls apart in the clutch. Also, he doesn't hustle on the field. The Cubs should have looked for a new third baseman

A-Rod is the most overrated player in MLB...He chokes in big games. Look at his playoff numbers.

Derek Jeter. He is a decent hitter for average, but his power is below-average at best. He only has his reputation because of post-season exposure, and the fact that he is a single guy in New York, and therefore tabloid fodder.

manny ramirez is by far the most overrated player...his numbers come as a result of ortiz batting behind him...he is a horrendous fielder and as he continues to age his offensive numbers will decline significantly...also all this "manny being manny" crap is ridiculous, he is the T. O. of baseball except he doesn't go to war with teammates and his manager

I agree with you. David Ortiz is a one dimensional player. DH's should never be considered for the MVP award. I've said it all along. As a matter of fact I wish they would get rid of the DH in baseball. I've never liked it. It takes too much strategy away from the game.

I'll say A-rod because he's a pre madonna who tries to win a championship with a bought team and has done nothing, and plus his numbers aren't as good as they used to be
