When your friend feels sad, what would you say at first?

nothing much. in that situation I'm going to help best by compassionately listening to the best of my ability. if they want to talk that's fine and if not that's fine. I wouldn't directly address their emotional state, rather i'd just go about things as normal and see how they choose to show it. If I say anything i'd probably just be like 'sup, good to see you'.

I think what i'm trying to say is that i'll be more of a friend than a doctor that's trying to find the cure

I would ask them what they are sad about. Would they like to talk about it. Would they rather be alone. Can I get them a drink? If yes, then get the car keys and make up the guest room. Let them be sad, cry if they want, just be there for them.

It would be great if your friend felt that you're sad too. That will put you in the same situation; then you'll know exactly what to do. Of course, this will only work if you're really sad too.

Try to b nice or give your friend some space for awhile if they don't want 2 talk so he/she can cool down. Do u know why he/she sad? If it's a serious depression they probably need counseling if it's over a boy then just need some time.

I wouldn't say anything. I would try and get them to smile. And if that works I would say "got you to smile" letting them know they are loved enough for someone to try and make this world better for them. So when they come out of heirs it's not how they left it.

say....or ask?

I'd ask if they wanted to talk or if there was something I could do. sometimes people want to be alone with their feelings first before sharing....if it were my friend, I'd hang out with them until they felt like talking. I wouldn't pressure them and still let them know I was there for them.

i would say you should expand the question slightly...but when and if i was sad...i just wished someone was willing to talk and asked "what's wrong"

Ask if they want to talk about it, they may just want to be left alone.
