I was wondering how to set an IP.

The IP is your address. Its your computer address to the world. Like the address to your house. Every computer has a different IP. Your PS2 should automatically pick up the IP because its going through a router that is determined by the modem.

IP is a system in which computers have unique identities and send information from one computer to the next to the next, chopped up into tiny little bits (packets).

I have no clue how to get a PS2 it's own IP address, and get it scooting around the internet. I'm guessing you'll need to get a wired router or wireless adapter for it, then go to sony.com or something like that.

IP..... is the address that you would get at home by a means called DHCP where the address is automatically assigned to the ps2 by your network provider (cable tv company) if there is an rj45 connection to connect to your cable modem if you have a router the IP is assigned to the router by your network provider and the router would assigned an IP to your PS2.
