Yes

But it doesn't make a sound when falling in the desert (little known fact)

It doesn't make an audible sound until it hits a tree on the way down, or until it hits the ground. It makes no sound until it hits something. You cannot hear it fall, but you can hear it land.

When trees in the deep forest fall they make a loud cracking sound and then a crash. You can hear it for miles when you are up high and the air is quiet and still. Yes!!

No, it makes sound waves, BUT if there were no one or any creature to pick up the sound waves then it would not make a sound. The sound waves would travel out until they faded away. The sound waves travel out and need a receptor, our ears, to pick up the waves which travel down our ear canal. The hammer, a bone in our ear, vibrates when the sound waves hit it and so on until our brains turn it into what we call a sound. So, unless there is something to pick up the sound waves then NO it does not make a sound.

Yes even if no one hears it we know that the tree hitting other trees and hitting the ground will send sound waves.

Only when it hits the ground (or another tree, or something else - it's leaves & branches can also hit each other)! And if it breaks, rather than is uprooted, you get the sound of splitting wood!

it makes an audible sound if someone is near enough to hear it, but if no one is around to hear it then the sound isn't audible

No, unless an organism that perceives sound is present. Otherwise there is no percept of sound, only air pressure waves.
