Her sound will change soon...this is new for her and she likes to hear it...she is learning she can make all different sounds...Get some ear plugs maybe if it bothers you that much...but do not punish her...she is only doing what she knows...

Distracting her with something might work. I have had this same problem and never found a REAL solution...they just have to go through that phase. Girls pick up the squealing again at about age 8 or 9.

This is natural, and it is a very good thing for her. Sounds like she is just playing. If this bothers you, perhaps you can get her to "sing" and teach her when it is okay to squeal and when it is not okay to squeal. They learn this very fast, and they are usually happy when you pay attention to them.
I have used the technique of getting them to squeal in different ways by squealing along with them, and I have noticed that they focus on that really quick. They like to try to mimick sounds, especially simple ones. (Usually I start out with the same sound, but vary the pitch in various ways, sometimes by placing their hand loosely over their mouths for a moment.) Believe me, just a small change in the squeal helps tremendously. Before you know it, you have a talker on your hands.
Many times they just want attention, sometimes they are a brat due to too much attention. If it seems like this is not a new play phenomenon and she is really driving you crazy, that method of lightly blowing in their face works.
Giving them something natural and "sticky" to eat works nicely too, but I can't remember at the moment what is good for an eight month old. Perhaps natural peanut butter (if they are not allergic, if they are old enough, no added ingredients)? Only a tiny bit is necessary. I remember gently smearing a tiny bit of peanut butter on the roof of my daughter's mouth and that would keep her entertained for a long while, but she was older. I would suggest using something that was as plain as you can get it and make sure not to place it on the gums, especially not on the outside. I knew many mothers who would place peanut butter on a pacifier, but I cannot recommend that (you have to use more, does not last as long, and you have to worry about cavities, choking, etc).
Whenever possible, singing along is fun you know. I had a blast "singing" along with my daughter when she was that age. We sounded like dying cats, but I was happy and she was very content.

Gently blow in her face. This startles them for a sec so that you can distract her with giggles.
You should also look her in the face and sternly say "NO. No yelling". Pay LOTS of attention to her when she is not squealing and NOTHING but the NO when she does.
Consisency is KEY. You have to do this ALL of the time. Laugh or giggle at her squeal once and you are back to square one.
It works... I have 3 girls...just don't let her know it drives you crazy. Cheers, and best of luck.

Babies love to experiment with sound. Have patience, she will soon find another sound she likes. She will also be more likely to move on to another sound more quickly if you don't pay much attention to the squealing. Babies love to see what kinds of reactions they can get, and if they get nothing, they will try something else :)

Try getting her a toy that rattles, not too loud. or if you are around her when she squeals then take your index finger and move it up and down against her lips so that she will make the "B B B B B B B B" sound, it always worked with me when i was little

I think it may just be a phase. She will get over it soon enough. Have patience with her. my son used to make a weird sound at around 5 months. It lasted about a month now he has a new sound. I think its adorable.

Does she like your startled response?
Give no attention to it, and she may stop. Having said this, though, babies make noise...it's what they do and there can sometimes be no stopping them.
