~It's all right there in your text. If not, maybe you're supposed to do a little outside reading and, god forbid, think. Go read. There's a whole world out there that you can't log-onto but can be a part of.

1. they didn't have any reason to. they thought he would be satisfied, and it wasn't in their interest to go to war over a little thing like that

A number of german officers, for various reasons, most believed hitler was going to destroy germany (some wanted peace, others just new leadership). the highest-ranking of them was marshal erwin von rommel (committed suicide to protec this family). they hid a bomb in a briefcase that was placed under the table at a meeting near hitler. it went off, but he was shielded by the table and a partition (both made of very thick oak). the plotters were caught soon after, partly as a result of one of them ratting the others out. all were executed, and many of their families were also involved.
