ok well this is my problem. everytime i write something anywhere on my acer aspire 3620 it freezes. it happened to me once before and i ended up having to reformat, which really sucked big time so i don't want to do that again. I do tend to download alot of unnecessary junk on my computer so maybe that has to do with it, but im not sure. almost everything else will works perfectly, but the second i write something anywhere it just freezes. I cant access my task manager either. when i try to it freezes . I have a fair share of anti-spyware and anti-virus programs installed and when i run scans i never get any viruses or anything of that sort. so im really cant understand what my problem is. maybe i just need a new harddrive. i hope not... please if anyone has an asnwer please, please, please, please help. thanks. oh and i almost forgot... i tried to do a system restore, but that didn't work. i did it back to about a week.

Hi. Try running a free program called " CClean ". This gets rid of a lot of junk files. Then run your anti programs ( AdAware , Spybot , etc.) Then defragment. If this does not help then look at you hard drive to see how much available space has been used. If it's more than 60% or so consider adding another drive. Good luck!

First off, you shouldn't download a lot of junk unless you know what it is. You should check your hard drive for any errors. Go to My Computer and when it opens right-click on your hard drive (usually the C: drive) and click on Properties. When the window comes up, go to the Tools tab and click the button under the Error-checking section. Check 'Automatically fix system errors' and 'Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors', then click Start. It's gonna start but it will give you some error saying that it can't scan cuz you are using it, so it will ask you if you want to scan during your next start up; select Yes and restart your computer. As it's booting, let it do the disc scan; after it's done it will return to Windows. If it finds any errors it will try to fix em. If nothing works, then maybe you just need a new hard drive. I suggest buying one online, as they are cheaper. Try www.newegg.com.

You may have too many things going on in the fore/background. What is a "fair share"? I have Spybot, ZA, Avast!, Ad-aware, and Spyware Blaster. Only ZA and Avast! run constantly. How much RAM do you have?

WHY HAVEN'T YOU CALLED THE ACER TECH SUPPORT ???

Chances are you can find your answer on the Acer website by searching for problems & solutions or the Knowledge Base. I suspect your problem is related to a bad video driver, or more remotely, a problem with your keyboard. Good Luck.
