Amazon sells both new and used items, but they are very clear to indicate which are which. For example, when you view their new books, they will also show you what a used copy is selling for. Then they act as a wholesaler and get the used book to you.

If you buy from Amazon.com directly, the merchandise is new.

If you buy from one of their individual sellers, read the condition listed, before buying.
