Take out the battery for the motherboard for
5 minutes or so, that usually resets it.
Some viruses also survive re-formatting. I've had to re-format 2 or three times before to straighten it out.

It's not very likely that the virus has interfered with your bios if it does eventually boot but more likely a disk problem try running checkdisk then defrag when in windows try this click on start >run type cmd then press enter when the command window comes up type sfc /scannow note the space after sfc it'll ask for your windows cd so have it ready if that doesn't work try reformatting again and a reinstall if still no joy you may have faulty hard disk to test this is to download The Hitachi drive fitness test you can get it here http://www.techspot.com/downloads/543-hitachi-drive-fitness-test.html it's an ISO file so you need some thing like Nero to burn it to cd place it in you cd drive and reboot make sure to boot off cd then choose you drive type ata or sata then choose the advance test it takes about half hour but you'll know if it is the drive.

It's only a hunch so don't take it as definite- restart your pc and keep pressing F8 until screen appears, follow the options there. Might not work but it did for me when my pc just didn't want to know after doing a major tidy up!

Go into BIOS and find the setting to detect hard drives or "auto-detect" hard drive. Then exit and save changes. This should prevent the screen you mention from showing up.

Use system restore, before the thing showed up.

Go to Start, programs, Accesories , System and restore on that calendar to a date prior to problem. Reboot immediately Problem will be gone.
