If you have a list of songs you want your visitors to be able to play what is the best way to embed this in your website so that it works with most browsers and OSes.

I tried the embed tag but it doesn't seem to want to work with firefox and netscape. Maybe me system is just FUBAR.

This is the page so far:

The songs are copyrighted material of the band that the website belongs to. But thanks for the "help".

The XSPF Flash music player is an open-source player that works extremely well - it is completely modifiable, very compact, and easy to implement. Since somewhere between 93 and 98 percent of all web users already have Flash installed, you also don't have to worry about the audience impact.

You could embed them into flash and add the swf to your web page...so they can only have access to the swf and not the actually mp3 files. You could also seek help from Bites Technology - www.bitestechnology.net

if these songs are copyrighted by someone else you cannot play them on your site period. not even as background music. doing so gives them access to the songs

i have tons of mp3s in a hidden subdirectory in one of my accounts. but no one listens to them but me
