I usually use Folex for spot cleaning, but I've never had to "face" bright blue Play-Doh, and I don't want to do anything which will "set" the stain in the rug. Any suggestions? I appreciate all answers, but please try not to steer my efforts in the wrong direction...the spot is right in front of a chair, so it really shows. Thanks SO much. Dottievan

http://www.hasbro.com/playdoh/ and www.mycarpetguys.com recommend you first let the gunk dry hard. Then remove as much as possible, loosen with stiff brush as needed. Vacuum crumbly bits. To clean deeper, mix mild squirt of dish soap and water, dab on. Blot dry. Neutralize with vinegar/water mix. Blot dry. Blot only, no srubbing. Repeat until stains gone. The doh should be cleaned off by then and to further lighten spot on light carpet, first test hydrogen peroxide before using on spot. No need to rinse. H. peroxide returns to water when exposed to light. No site mentioned using hot water, which could set artificial color into carpet fibre. If spot will not be removed, a tiny patch may need to be replaced with clean carpet. Be patient, the darn spot usually will come out. PS...stay away from Silly Putty. You will go silly trying to remove this rubberized stuff.

Do NOT use hot water or cleaning solutions of any kind.
Let it to dry completely, and then loosen with a stiff brush. You may have to vacuum or wash with soap and cold water.
You may have to do this a couple of times to get it all out.

Ice....rub it over the Play-doh, it should make it brittle and easy to lift off.

Is there a Play-doh website? Maybe they have FAQ's that would answer this.
