You don't earn the respect of others, others find something in you they can respect.

Because you cannot change others to respect who you are and because guessing what they respect and adapting to that causes you to loose your identity, all that is left is to get to know who you are and to respect that.

Very early on, as a means of survival, we learn to protect ourselves with a character mask. After using this habitually it often takes the less obvious teachings of a wise person or even a sage to help us see our real possibilities.

Don't give up on Confucious or John Lennon and the others. Millions of people have found something to respect in them so they must have understood a thing or two.

The same way you earn respect from anybody. Show them respect (and you must respect yourself).

Men don't make people earn respect
they just respect them to begin with
If they don't like you when u first met him
it's gonna be extremely hard to get them to respect you.

By respecting them first. And by doing things that do not hurt or marginalize them.

be yourself and if they're not respectfull, then its not an honest respect. you need to gain someone's respect for the right reasons, not by fabricating your personality.
