When I met my girlfriend and I told her I liked her look(the way she did her hair and makeup)she stopped doing this. When I asked her why she said because I told her I liked it. She told me she didnt have a problem looking pretty for other boys because they didnt tell her they like her look. But as soon as I went overseas she started looking pretty again. Do you mind if your bf likes how you look?

Okay, it is you who are trying to change someone confident with the way she looks. Keep complimenting but on things she attempts and new looks she likes. Don't try to change anyone, love her as she is. She likes the makeup and hair, it gives her confidence. Being with you, she did not need that reassurance, but if you are gone she needs reassurance of herself and what she likes. She sounds as though she is still finding herself. Let her explore new ideas and become the best she can be. With or without you. You will be loved forever when you except things as they are, not as you believe they should be. It will drive you crazy and others if trying to control others to make yourself feel better or more loved. My guess is, you are loved by many. And always will be with or without her.

No it should be seen as encouragement surely, why would you stop looking good for the person you love. I wouldn't.
Has she stopped trying because she has you? That is complacency and a wee bit lazy.
Also why look good when you are away, is she playing mind games? Is she unhappy that you are away?
Maybe you should with-hold your compliments for a while and see what reaction you get!

Unless it was the way you said it..maybe she thought it was vulgar??
but don't get too paranoid about it; don't worry for days on end about how and when and why you said you liked her look..
honestly, her reaction to that is a big con..if you care about her, think about it, but if you don't, just leave her..

I am sorry to tell you this but it appears as though she wants to discourage you from liking her. If anything if someone that you care about likes your look, then it is something that you definitely want to continue. Watch her carefully, there appears to be something else going here.
