No, it's actually the PIT of a fruit of the coffee plant.

They're misnamed as 'beans' because they kinda look like beans, but they are the fruit of a tree. Technically, beans are 'legumes' not vegetables as such, but under the broader distinction between meat and vegetables, beans/legumes/pulses are considered to be in or of the vegetable kingdom. Back to coffee: call it what you will, the only way to truly enjoy it is to drink it without milk, cream, sugar, etc. Once you've had it black, you'll never go back.
