there are a number of good and inexpensive lotions out there. Aveda, Clinique, etc make moisturising lotions that tan your skin. They come in different shades and tend not to streak or blotch. They are safe, easy and cheap.
and... they won't give you wrinkles, age spots and skin cancer 40 years from now.

Self tanners are the safest way because it doesn't damage your skin. Tanning salons are damaging as well but it's faster than laying out. Mystic tan is also another method that is safe and fast. You go to the tanning salon and they mist it on your body. It lasts for about a week to 2 weeks. Very natural looking.

Getting a professionally HAND done spray tan. If you get a spray tan in the machine it is not fun. You have to hold your breath it goes in your face and it is very likely to be un even. However, if you get it hand done at a salon a trained profssional does it and makes sure it is even and perfect. It lasts for about two weeks and is the most natural looking you can get aside from a real tan.

Go to a tanning salon and tan on a tanning bed. Do not get a spray on tan. I had one and it was not even and was orange in some spots.

Tanning salons usually aren't healthy and spread bad chemicals on your skin. The best would be to stay outside, and the sun provides vitamin C and D to your skin as well.

If you can afford to maintain it (about $70 month) spray on is the safest.
