Use a 3rd party client, like trillian or miranda messenger.

They enable you to use AOL, Yahoo, MSN without the fat.
Did I mention, they are also free?

Install the following:
SpywareBlaster
Google Toolbar For Internet Explorer
Opera Browser
Spybot Search and Destroy
Lavasoft's Ad-Aware SE
CWShredder
SuperAntispyware

First, update them (xcept Opera, Google Toolbar & CWShredder) then reboot to Safe Mode. Scan your hard drive at that mode using Ad-Aware, Spybot, CWShredder, & SuperAntispyware.
In SpywareBlaster, enable ALL PROTECTION detected. Read up on how to use it coz it is one of the best pro-active antispyware there is.

Click on edit, settings, and you should see another box pop-up. On the left side of that box, click 'sign in / sign out'. It'll say 'When I sign in, display the following'. Choose 'none', then click 'save'. That should fix it. I have version 6.0, so that's how I do it, but yours may be different.

On a Mac, shift/administration/3 takes a image of the show screen. in case you press shift/administration/4, you are able to click and drag over the section you desire; the image is taken once you launch the mouse button.
