i was in your position last january. im 12 and the way i convinced my parents is i pointed out the good points in having one...
they= parents
- they can be in touch with you 24/7
- they can know you have a way to call if there is an emergancy
- they can see where you are (if phone comes with GPS)
also, make a deal, if you get all A's and B's you can keep the phone, if you make a C, u have to pay that months bill. mention it once every two days so you are reminding them but not annoying them.

First of all, dont just ask. and definately dont say "well so-and-so has one!" b/c that will never work. tell them that it would b important to have whenever u go to someones house, to a party, or a game or something... that way if something happened u could get ahold of them quickly. also point out a way that you have been responsible lately, such as "ive been helping around the house a lot lately" or "my grades have really been good so far this year"... that will really make them think about it. also, tell them that if u did get one, u understand that there will b rules, and that u wont b talking on it 2 late, or running up the bill w/ text messaging.
if they still say no, wait a few weeks before u ask again. parents HATE it when u go on and on and on about something like that!
Good luck!! :D

hey cutie.
sorry about the bus after school. i thought you were mad about something that had to do with shiannn, but email me and ill talk to you about it then. because i think you are mad at me bc you didnt come over.
ANYWAYS-
CELL PHONE.
my mom told me i couldn't have a cellphone until i was 16. but that changed, as you know.=]
I just told my mom about the plan. and how she bought a phone, and got the second one free (from verizon) so she didn't have to pay for the phone, but she had to pay for the ACTIVATION. which is 100$ for a year contract. and 200$ for a 2 year contract. but anyways, just let her know that you'll be able to call her if you need a ride home from the movies, or something like that. and that you shoul dhave one incase of emergensies, and maybe tell her you can help pay for the bill every month. (maybe pay half? (its only like 40$, unless you have the buy one get one free thing) or tell her that you can pay for your text messeges and stuff so she wont have to pay anything extra.)
its pretty tough, considering the fact that i KNOW your parents, but im sure they'll let you have one sooner or later. plus, it's really not a big deal having a phone. haha i was so excited when i got mine, and now its like... blaaah. i basically only use it for text messeging anyways. (except when i went over 700 TEXT MESSEGES and my mom like, killed me.) hahahah but yeah
if you choose mine as best answer ill choose yours. =]
LOVE
YOUR BEST FRIEND

To get mine I personaly pointed out all the positive points to my parents. Thats one of the best thigs to do. Some good things to point out are....
- How they will always be able to get a hold of you
- They can see where you are if the phone comes w/ GPS
- Easier for you to contact them when you need a ride somewhere
And the list goes on, but you see where im going with this.
Hope I helped,
