The average salary varies according to experience and the location of the practice. It's not really a "get rich" job. Here is the most recent (2003) APA salary survey.
For a doctorate:
College psychology faculty made about $62,000 per year.
Research psychologists made between $78,000 and $95,000 per year.
The average salary for a clinical psychologist is about $75,000.
School psychologists made an average of $78,000.
Industrial-organizational psychologists made an average of $130,059 (this number is misleading..there were a lot of outliers).
Administration of applied psychology positions had an average salary of $143,344 (this number is also misleading for the same reasons stated above).
To become a psychologist, you are required to have a doctorate and a license. This is 4 years of undergraduate education, 4 years of graduate school, a one year predoctoral internship, about one year of postdoctoral experience, and then passing your licensure exam.

Yes and no. They do make okay money if they work for an organization like a hospital. Private practice is one way to go, but it takes hard work and dedication. School..well you have to go to a 4 year school and major in Psychology or Social Psychology, then you have to go for your Masters in Social Work, or something related to your choice of study, (Counseling Psychology, Education Psychology, etc) additional 2 years or more; do an internship and to make the really big bucks go on for your PhD. Depends on which state you live in and what their requirements are as far as getting licensed to practice, and you have to renew it sometimes annually.

yes, they get paid well
they have to go for atleast 7 years
anything under, you will only be able to become a teacher in a school.
you need a masters or doctorial degree to become a liscened psychologist.
But one thing is that many psychologist commit suicide from all the wack stories they have to deal with every day

I hope not! You have NO idea how many times my mom has made me go to them for no reason. Are they the people who mess with people's minds or am I thinking of something totally different? Because they don't help, they make it WORSE. Believe me.
