Of course not. They are disgusting and will peg you as "loose."

My daughter got hers done at age 20. I think 14 is too young. Not that you aren't responsible, but it takes a lot of care to make sure it doesn't get infected. It also doesn't look very good for the first few months because it takes quite a while to heal. How about if you wait 'til your 16th birthday to make it special? By then you will have stopped growing and can be pretty sure that the skin won't stretch and mess up the piercing.

I would wait until you are a little older. I got mine when I was 19 about 1 year 1/2 ago. They take a lot of work and care so they don't get infected, which you may not be ready to deal with. Even when you do take care of it, I've known many people who still end up with infected piercings. But its really up to you and your parent (by the way, what do they think?)

Well Helen this mostly depends on personal opinion. Some people think they are gross and hard to maintain, and some think they are attractive. But if you can bare the pain of the first three months and handle all the necessary responsobilities that sure. And also if you dont wear very many shirts that bare your midriff whats the pont? Also if it getts affected than it can be a VERY big problem so you must wash iy everyday. Good Luck and let us know your decision and how your holding up!!!

If that is really what you would like, then do it but remember:
1) it is one of the longest to heal
2) you are far more likely to get it infected then anywhere else
3) from what I heard from classmates/friends/co-workers, it is very unconfortable and more of a pain then any other peircing
I personly feel you have the right to self-expression, but the realy reason is why do you want to? It is a fad, yes, but really, as you get older the message you are sending to other people might not be the one you intend to send. I would wait, learn a bit more about it, and if you do get it done, be sure to get it done in a clean, steril inviroment by professonals.

Imagine the worst pimple you have ever had. A really, big, foul smelling one that you can't even burst because it hurts too bad. Now, imagine it in your navel, and then imagine it pointing inwards so you can't even reach it.
That's a skin infection caused by a navel piercing, and it is guaranteed to happen at least once in your life as a result of it. After that, the other possible things that can happen are liver infections, sepsis through to generalised peritonitis.
Basically, if you think you can deal with the possible side effects at your stage, as well as the extra care necessary with daily cleaning to avoid all of the above happening, then go ahead with piercing. But, speaking as one who has seen the above happen - seriously not worth it.

If you are Black (which according to your avatar you are),.............. I say that because people of color have thicker skin and have the tendecy to keloid............. I would not. I got mine done and my body rejected it. The ring pushed itself out. I could see the ring through my skin. So I took it out before it broke the skin........ And guess what.......... now I got a small keloid there. And I pray that it doesn't get bigger. Ugh! My friends did the same thing and we went at different times to different places, and we are totally built differently.
So if you wanna take the chance................GO RIGHT AHEAD!! =) everyone is different. (but it is something to think about). Oh yeah it takes literally a year to heal.
You do know they have clip ons that work just as well as the actually pierce one. Without the pain.

Wait till you're 15. You're still young... and it's a pain to take care of in the first 9-12 months.

Wait for the next trend and then do it. Belly button rings are definitely out

You're parents are the ones to answer that question. But most belly piercings I have seen just look trashy, not cool or grown-up.
