I ran a 1 1/8 belt behind a 121" ,rode it hard and it lasted over 2 years.
I'd say behind a Sportster you'll be fine. But burnouts are unnecessarily hard on the bike.

The belts have been improved so much since they first came out that it may well outlast you. You probably don't know it but burnouts like that are bad for your engine too. You'll be working it like it's going 90 with no airflow. Gonna toast something!

Oh yes, no sweat. It's your tires you should watch. The nice thing about the belts are they are always taught. A chain on the other hand will have to catch up when the load is dropped on it so there's a kind of catching effect that takes place.

the burnout is not the issue with the belt drives on motorcycles, It' sthe rocks that get lodges between your belt & pulley.

If you ever decide to upgade your engine , Chain is the way to go.

it is quite rare that a belt breaks unless the rear wheel is out of alingment or it's too loose and starts to strip itself. if it's adjusted properly, have at it.

If it's in good shape of course it will. How many depends on how often, and how long.
