Mmmm. This is a difficult one. If he is really only interested in being friends and you turn up the heat he may run for the hills. If you play the distant angle he may write you off as a friend.

Are you sure he just wants to be friends? You could just come straight out and ask him (he will appreciate that). Then if you are sure it's going no where then you'd best try to get over it.

well in this case you just take him as a friend too. never let your feeling grow because you will ruin your friendship eventually if he didn't feeling the same as you.
better yet...keep your distance with him. the more time you spend with him the more your feeling grow and that's something that is not easy to control.
sometime being friend with someone is better than having them in a relationship.
