Had you arranged something previous, like, My TV, hands off. Or when I'm at home it's ALL mine. If not they should have asked. But you can be bigger person by saying, hey how long does your show have? If it's too long, then say Sorry, I have something coming on. If you just want to flip, then it would be nicer to give thier show a shot at least until you can't stand it anymore or it's over. Unless it just started, then they can go rent it.
If you have a computer then do you have a DVD Disc Drive? Good place to just put on some head phones and sink yourself into a different world.
And if you have't already, this is the time to lay down some ground rules about the TV usage. ;)

If they r watchin a show its very rude!!Regardless of who's TV it is. I'd be super offended if someone did that 2 me! If ur like that u should put it in your room that would solve the problem but I think if u walk in and they r watchin something u should let them finish it u should be willing 2 share with ur roommate u guys r supposed 2 be friends right??If u have something u must watch tell them so they expect u to come in and change it but u should always say something be4 u change the channel!!

Yes, rude.
If it's in the common living space, even though it is "yours," it is used like community property, so you should be courteous. That's like, if your roommate owned the couch, and he/she kicked you off of it because it was THEIRS and they didn't want you to sit there because he/she wanted to lie down on it.
On the other hand, if the TV is in your personal living space, like your bedroom, and your roommate came in there without permission to watch your TV, then yeah - kick 'em out and/or change the channel because then your roommate was rude first for coming in your personal area without an invitation.

What's wrong with your roommate's TV? If it's in the shop or whatever reason and you guys agreed to share yours, yeah, I'd say that's pretty rude.
If not, nah, it's not. Or better yet, go watch hers.

Yes it really would because your roommate could actually be watching it and it would be unfair if it was to happen to you.

just say, "Oh I was planning to watch my show, I'm sorry" as you reach for the remote and change the channel.

yes. you should divide your tv time individually so you both can enjoy it. roommates = partnership. you can be greedy and neither can your roommate.
