I would choose to put it into "sleep" or "standby" mode when leaving it alone for long periods of time. And restart your computer at least once a day so it can run updates and virus scans.

it would probably be worse for the computer to be shut down & restarted multiple times a day.
i'm currently at about 18 days without a restart, and hope to get past 50 days again!
when not in use, i have my computer set to go to 'sleep' after 10 minutes of non-use. it puts everything into a low power mode, and when i'm ready to use it again i don't have to wait for it to start up from cold.

No. People leave them on for weeks at a time. It's better to not shut it off frequently because of the power surge at start up.

I never turn mine off... Heat causes the parts inside to expand and turning off the PC makes it cold so the oppiset happens.... Thats bad for the hardware inside your pc...

Mines been running for 3 years, only turn it off to do maintenance or add hardware, other than that the occasional reboot for updates. ;)

dude go to start>shut down>standby its so much more energy.you can save up to 1hr of valuble energy.

not really i do it all the time, but if it starts making really loud noises or it starts to get really hot or it starts beeping, turn it off!
