Journalists, whether tv, radio, or newspaper, are paid. The policy of the tv, radio, or newspaper who hires them dictates their coverage of an event and edits their coverage of such.
The "mass media" has impacted the "war on terrorism" no less or no more than before, during, or after the Revolutionary War, The War Between the States, The Spanish/American War, WWI, WWII, Korea, or Viet Nam.
Journalists, and those who hire them, have equated themselves as "judge and juror"; seducing the American public into believing, and accepting, their views on a given situation.
The American people need to awaken to the fact that "we are not stupid". Let your voice be heard by your legislators: Senators, Governors, even the President.
The "mass media" will continue to impact the "war on terror" as long as the "masses" continue to believe everything they report.

good idea you need to know most media is right leaning ,
forgot what else disinformation the previous poster said but
if he said that media has duties to its sponsors ,has censure's and laws ,that conflict with integrity and morality ,he would be pretty close
its first in that sets the tone ,so if govt starts a rumour or presents its bias first then the lie remains because it was impressed on /into our minds first
mass media likes graphics ,photo opportunities it needs to get the story
those most motivated to deceive are in there first with a believable version that usually doesnt get rebuttal because by then it has hit the blog /chat rooms ,its too late to correct the lie then
bias fear mongering and out and out lies are accepted at face value or distrusted because the opposing points are allways seeming to rebut the previous lie then the next lie then the label of winging
valid is not fair and balanced its a selective vieuw
Media savvy isnt media truth or if media truth it mightn't be historically true
just common belief ,fertilized by bias and fear

Good question. If you start with the premise that most journalist in the mass media are left leaning politically and are against the war in Iraq (backed up in several polls on how journalist vote) then you have to agree they have biased the reporting on the war by basically focussing on all of the negative aspects vs. positive aspects ie. millions liberated from a tyranny, democratic elections, women allowed to attend schools, elimination of Sadam's death squads etc.
Many of these leftist nitwit journalist of this generation are trying to make the war in Iraq their VietNam which does not fly.
