i think it would be minnesota if they had liriano, but i'll go with detroit...rogers, verlander, bonderman, and maroth were all very good last season, and they're younger guys(except for rogers) who will continue to get better

The sleeper Atlanta Braves, a team that has always emphasized pitching as the antithesis of a championship team this years rotation will be the best in recent memory
1.) John Smoltz- would have won 2006 cy young if he wasnt robbed of six decisions by incompetent and sloppy bullpen work, still an ace.
2.) Timothy Hudson- Hudson has committed to a much stricter workout regiment this offseason and should be in pristine condition, physically and mentally.
3.) Mike Hampton- Was 15-2 with a 2.62 era in his last 22 starts, plus history shows a degree of success succeeding Tommy John surgery ( i.e- John Smoltz and Tommy John himself)
4.) Chuck James- The pitcher who didn't receive nearly the acclaim he was due, went 11-4 and led the league in winning percentage. Review his numbers from the minors and you'll see why the Braves community endears the young pitcher.
5.) Kyle Davies- Bright young pitcher, a lot of upside but a few struggles with confidence, aptly placed in the number five slot.
....While I'm sure my selection for best 2007 Starting Rotation will be met with much adversity from the likes of overambitious red sox fans( Matsuzaka hasn't proved anything to this point, and is a potential bust) and jaded Yankees fans...(perhaps pavano will at least touch the mound this season), the fact remains, this rotation has three previous 20-game winners in the first three slots and certainly challenges for best rotatin in baseball.

Maddux is now with the Padres, if Penny stays healthy it will be the Dodgers they have no clear cut ace, but the whole rotation is based on guys who would be 2-3-4 starters on other teams, otherwise I will have to say the Tigers, and the Angels. Minnesota and the Indians could be solid, Minnesota has the young guns Bonser, Garza, Slowey that could step in and possibly Ponson plus Silva will be better. Well we will have to see how the season shakes. Play Ball.

The Los Angeles Dodgers. Maddux, Lowe, Penny, and Billingsley are the best top 4 in the MLB. It doesn't matter who ends up being the 5th starter (possibly Mark Hendrickson), they could have no fifth starter and still be the best in the league. The Braves rotation could wind up nearly as good, but a lot of question marks there.

If all of the pitchers on the Yankees stay healthy and play as well as they can the Yankees have the best rotation with wang, mussina, pavano and igawa. Igawa has yet to prove himself in the mlb but has a lot of potential. There is a lot of risk in that rotation though with age, injuries and unproven players and if it goes wrong then I pick the detroit tigers who have some great young pitchers and will build off last years success.
