Sheffield's bat is always a positive on any team. He is a professional hitter to be sure. Sometimes he brings a few issues with him but I've always had the feeling that if you're up front with him you will gain his respect. If not than you'll never gain his confidence. I think the Tigers got a dam good ball player in Gary Sheffield.

He will only help the Tigers as far as offense....as far as the clubhouse - the guy is really a clubhouse cancer. Hopefully Leyland will keep that in check.

As far as the trade for Sheffield, the Tigers got ripped off by the Yankees. They gave up some young talent for a way out of his prime slugger who missed most of last year due to injury and then signed him to an extension for a lot of cash.

Sheffield is a head-case, he already definitely stated he became going to make existence depressing for although group he wound up enjoying for, however the Tigers only gave him an extension with the aid of '09. he's had subject concerns w/ Dombrowski (the GM)...yet he loves Jim Leyland. in case you do no longer count huge style this year, he's hit a minimum of 30 HR and one hundred twenty RBI each and all of the final 3 seasons, and if I remember spectacular, he's "basically" 38 years previous. he remains have been given the countless superb hitting wrists interior the interest. as properly, the Tigers rather ought to've used that bat and his playoff adventure interior the international sequence this year. It became their youthful human beings that killed them. If he keeps his ego in verify, i think of he would be only superb.

Due to his age, I think the Tigers are going for a short time fix because they were so close last year but I hope they did not throw a future away by giving away too many prospects. We will see in a year or two whether the deal was worth it.

Sheffield is a great pickup for the Tigers. If he's healthy noone in baseball hits the ball harder. Since he won't be playing in the field he'll be able to concentrate on hitting. I think he'll have a great year.

He's an excellent fit for the Tigers. As long as he mainly stays at DH and doesn't get hurt, it'll be a good year for both the Tigers and Shef. I'd love to get him on my Fantasy team this year.

I think he will do good things for the tigers but his age is a problem and I'm happy he is off the Yankees.

Good, he will add power to the lineup and a competitor too, he will bring attitude to the tigers much like Rasheed Wallace did to the pistons, and they won a championship.

Great. He is an amazing hitter, who always seems to hit Rockets, and the bat wiggle is really intimidating. He is still a great player, and will rebound from last year. Possible Comeback POY award winner.

He provides a veteran presence, but he was hampered by injuries last season and he's getting up there in age. He'll probably only be a part time player for them.
