Make sure you have installed the scan software. This is a very common oversight. The software will locate the device.

Also, you may need to try connecting it directly to the PC rather than to the network just to make sure the device is working.

What kind of scanner do you have? Is it an All in One? That is, a printer, copier, scanner. Or is it just a scanner?

First, make sure your device is plugged in good in the wall socket and into your device; make sure your USB cable is hooked up to the printer and the computer, and that it is ON.

If that doesn't work, try this:
1. Go to Start, click on Control Panel, click on Fax and Printer, right click on Printer, and delete it.

2. Make sure your device is ON and the USB cable is hooked to the device and to your computer.

3. Insert the disk that your devise came with. When it boots up, click on Uninstall.

4. When the uninstall application finishes, eject the disk, and Restart your computer.

5. After your computer reboots, insert the disk again and reinstall.

6. You might need to Restart your computer again.
