I am doing my senior project on film production. Frank Capra Jr lives in the same town as me and my mentor is going to see if i can interview him.

I'm having trouble thinking of questions to ask. My 3 prongs are pre-production, production, and post production. My A's and B's are going to be things like casting, special effects, and editing.

What questions should I ask.

Frank Capra, Jr. is known more as a producer than as a director (his dad was the famous director).

Do your research, and ask him specific questions about his past projects, particularly the more successful ones (Firestarter, Planet of the Apes sequels, etc.). I'm sure he'll have lots of stories to tell.

Also ask him about his current and future projects. such as his plan to build a studio and tourist attraction in Connecticut. This will give him a chance to promote stuff he's working on and will give you more stories.

Finally, you may want to ask about his family in the biz, and growing up with a famous name. Along with his father, Frank, Jr.'s son, Frank III, works in film as a 1st AD.

Hope this helps!

What a great opportunity! (And what an intelligent question and intelligent set of answers. I'm getting sick of the same old crap.)

Everything everyone else has said sounds good to me. I'd pay special attention to the detail that the man you are interviewing is actually more of a producer than director. Really keep that in mind. Everyone likes to be known for who they are, and not who their father, etc., was.

One way to ease into this might be to ask him why he chose to go into this aspect of the business more than directing, given his father's career.

On the trivial side, but still interesting, sometimes people are interested in talking about certain kinds of mistakes they made--especially things they DIDN'T do. For instance, is there a movie that he had a chance to work on but he passed up and now wonders what he was thinking? And if he were at your point in life, what would he do given what he knows now?

Good luck!

Frank Capra Jr is a producer and I believe you could pick his brain in that area, Ask him about his latest project, What steps he took since he got the script? What efforts he takes so the movie does not go over budget? Look for his works at www.imdb.com.
Review his work, they appreciate that.

FYI: I aspire to be a film director :) maybe the answers you get from him will help me.

you should ask questions about stuff you would like to know more about him and the movies he or her has made:
What was the most difficult actor he has worked with
Whats more challenging, editting or adding special effects

stuff like that, but be poised around the man and wear clothing that suits your persinality, for artisitc reasons
