Some types of fabrics can be ruined by water. So they must be cleaned using petroleum based solvents (in other words, no water).

There are home dry cleaning kits for mild stains. You can find them in the grocery or drug store usually. You pour the solvent from a bottle on the stain, scrub it with a special cloth, and toss it into a bag that you put into the dryer. I get mixed results. I think that all these kits really do is to remove smells, not stains, from clothing.

If it says “dry clean only” it’s better to dry clean it. If it just says “dry clean” it may be ok to wash it by hand, in cold water with something like Woolite. Another option to dry cleaning is Dryel- it’s sold at stores such as Walmart, Kmart or Target.

The comments on the tags are just to help you better maintain your cloths...if you want htem to look the same as when you bought them, and last longer spend the extra $10.00 to dry clean them...or don't buy such needy cloths
