Since it all boils down to the dollar, would you spend money reading about the soldiers? Perhaps real life autobiographies on them, a new platoon every month?

Good question. Sadly, these answers are probably representative of our society; shallow, uninformed, easily distracted by shiny objects. The only salvation for us all is that most of my former comrades do not give a rats *** what the American people think about us, or if they even care. Gorge Orwell said “Good people sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf.” What he did not say is that they do it because someone has to and that those men and women can see the need, and honor in what they do for the collective good. And for that I salute them.

Since I'm a veteran, I would love to read about these brave soldiers that are forced to fight a senseless war and give them as much support as I possibly can...celebrities get more than enough attention and my dollars every time I buy a movie ticket, CD or whatever...we need to support the people that are putting their lives on the line for us every day!

Soldier's and you'd have to pay extra for the celebrities. Personally some newspapers especially since Knight Ridder sold are starting to have the whole "celeb" factor put in. I picked up a news paper yesterday to have the front page covered with a story about how one woman had a nasty experience with a breast implant.....????? Like that's worthy news?

I know you have asked for one or the other but my answer is neither. Stardom has polluted the world....since when is hollywood entertainment "NEWS"?....come on anchors. Who cares if Britney is in rehab or how Anna Nicole Smith died. Leave these people alone. We put them in the hell they live in by microscopically dissecting their life. For soldiers, I'd be a little, teeny bit more inclined to read about them (if i had to choose)....whether one agrees with the war or not, these soldiers are brave men and women who go out and defend their country. They simply decided to join the military....they haven't necessarily agreed 100% with George W.'s views

It upsets me every time I read about the soldiers, so I choose to chase it out of my mind with celebrity gossip.

The exhibit at the Women's War Memorial at Arlington etched so many of the fallen soldiers into my brain, their stories haunt me. The gossip is a way of escape.

I'd rather hear about the soldiers than celebrity stuff that doesn't really matter. I'd definitely read a magazine or book full of their experiences.

I respect soldiers very much!! But, it is depressing at times to read about them and all the blood shed.. So, I prefer to read about celebrities so I can laugh, and see that my existence on Earth really isn't that terrible.

I know this sounds bad but I'd rather read about celebrities. I have the upmost respect for our soldiers but celebrities are always in the news so you kinda feel more like you know them so it makes reading stuff about them more interesting.

I would spend my money on the soldiers as I have no interest in the celebrities at all. My mom buys those rags mags and she believe the stories. lol.

People don't have to feel guilty reading about stupid celebrities and their crazy antics. It is painful and often guilt-inspiring to read about brave men and women who defend our right to freedom. We might actually think about what we are or are not doing to make the country a better place.
