I just used the small load cycle on my washer and put not even a half a cap full of bleach into the container on the side. My basement smells like bleach. The only ventilation we have is the door to the upstairs. What do i do? Is it bad to spend time in my den downstairs while the smell is there? Are there any major health risks? If my clothes come out of the dryer and smell like bleach how should i get it out?

Are you using detergent as well when you use the bleach. You should. Just use the regular amount of detergent in addition to the bleach. This helps cut the smell some, but if its still there, run it through and extra rinse cycle.

i always run the clothes through an extra rinse cycle to help get that bleach-y smell out and also to prevent bleach stains on the next load.
you should open all the doors and windows you can; i don't believe there is any health risk since it was such a small amount.

You can run your clothes through an extra rinse cycle.
I don't even use bleach anymore...I use the LaundryPure by EcoQuest that cleans clothes without any chemicals. My clothes come out cleaner, softer and completely odor free. I bought it from my local EcoQuest Dealor: Environmental Planning Solutions at www.webbwiz.com

half a cup sounds like a lot. if your clothes come out smelling like it, i would do another load of wash with some other detergent. normally when you do use pure bleach you should try to dilute it first and then soak your clothes. if this is the only time you do this and youre not by the bleach bottle snorting the smell you should be fine.

Use as much ventilation as possible. Don't use so much next time. Only a cap full or two should do. Anymore than that is too much. Good Luck! =0)

That happens to my mom and me sometimes. a second rinse should clear your clothes of the bleach. If you can open windows, if it bothers you, otherwise the smell will disappear.
