I don't get why 11, 12, 13, ect year olds are dating. Why can't they just focus on school and wait till they are in High School? The kids in some schools only worry about who likes who and who is going out. They are immature and don't even understand dating. They are only in 6th grade! Your opinons please? And anyone in lower grades then 6th grade, dating? That is totally immature and stupid.

I'm not saying dating is bad but there is no point in dating if they never last more than two weeks. O.O

I'm not sure why 11, 12 and 13 year olds are dating. Sometimes they say they're "dating", when really it's just a statement that they're a "couple" and they just hang out at school and im each other. Dating to them isn't the same as dating to those more mature/older. I think it's just pressure from the media. They see all the shows (especially disney channel -has younger sister who is obsessed with that channel and won't stop talking about Hannah Montana *gag*-) where 12 or 11 year olds have crushes and go on dates, and then they want to as well.
Plus, have you looked at the dolls they have for little girls these days? I saw a whole aisle dedicated to bratz....who of course have boyfriend dolls right across from them. All I can say is, I hope my sister doesn't get a boyfriend (she's in 6th grade).

I completely agree. When you are in middleschool, kids need to just focus on school and building great friendships, not romances. I really don't get why kids that young would date. To the teachers and parents, it makes them look immature and dumb. Why would you date when you can't even get married for five to six years? The entire point of dating is to find a life partner... not a two-week, for fun boyfriend. I advise everyone out there younger than 15 to be friends with the opposite sex and NOT to date... No matter how old and mature you think you are, it always makes you look immature to date under the age of 15.

Yea that is kinda stupid 14 is probably a good age though. My parents feel the same they won't let any of my siblings or me date until 16. A couple of my friends started dating around 10 and I thought that was completely unnecessary because every other week they would be crying about how they broke up, but then when you see their grades it's like all bad.

kids need to grow up through these young ages and somewhere they have it in their minds that dating is cool (at young ages) they need to be steered back into finishing school is cool and understanding that teen pregnancy is on the rise and aids..ect
#1 keep the lines of communication open with the child with everything and every topic, they will remember that when they need a friend and someone they can trust especially when they are dating...there is nothing worse then a kid who thinks they know everything and start dating someone else who thinks they know everything to!!
6th grade..chances are...they just want a friend to play with who is a girl just so they can say the words "I have a girlfriend" to fit in

Well when I was in sixth grade 'going out' mainly ment eating lunch together, sitting in classes together, and talking on the phone. Nothing that that big. Anyway, it builds up kids for high school. In my old junior high all of our teachers knew and jsut dismissed it. I think you should as well. Now 8th graders, 13-14, years old were allowed to openly have public displays of affection at school. This did not mean making out,but a hug or kiss on the cheek was fine.

At that age, kids are fighting for a repuatation and on top of that, they're at the age where they think they're finally beginning to have more 'serious' crushes.
Although I think there are better things these kids could be doing, such as joining extracurricular activities and focusing on schoolwork, just let them have their fun. It won't last long, and it's all part of growing up. Though they are still immature and hardly ready for real dating, it's more like a game.

when young kids date all it is is just giving presents and talking to each other and writing notes. its just there to give them something to talk about so that there isn't any real drama. But i dont think it is a problem. back hundreds of years ago people got married at ages 12 and 13. its all just harmless fun even if it is dumb.
