I test drove this Chevy Blazer LS 4X4 tuesday morning before school. It drove really smooth up until the car said low fuel. It had little fuel in it when I got it. the dealer didnt fill it up much. When the low fuel light came on, the car started jerking and lurching. I thought it was the road. But it kept doign it. And the rpm metter went up and down repeatily. Is this because it was low on fuel. It has 99K miles on it.

Heres a pic.

I asked my husband because he is a licenced mechanic.
When your fuel gauge came on you should have been able to drive to a gas station without any problems. You should have been able to drive quite a distance. The reason the rpm meter was acting up was because the car was trying to run out of fuel

Yes, it was low on fuel but the problem you were experiencing was fuel and gas vapor being pressurized and that leads to lower pressure and not enough of liquid fuel to ignite. The fuel guage on the dash has quite a long period before you actually run out of gas. The low fuel warning light does not have much of a time period to get some fuel. This can be a real problem if you happened to be driving in a hilly area where the low fuel level washes away from the pickup on an uphill or a downhill. I don't think anything is wrong with the truck, but to be sure get them to add some significant fuel and road test again, I would.

Hey, i also have a '99 Blazer LS, 101k miles. Different color though, and mine doesn't say 4x4 on the side, although it is 4x4. And for me, it doesn't seem to do that to me when it's low on fuel, but i'll make sure to check that out next time lol. And my RPM defenitly doesn't go up and down.

Take it for a ride and put 10 gallons in it and see if it does it again. I had a 98 blazer and dont recommend them to anyone.... they have very weak transmissions.... 4L60E.... UGH!!!! small inside... and get very poor gas mileage.... I liked my blazer alot, but they are not well made vehicles.
