I know this a silly question, but I really don't know. I bought a Linksys Wireless-G with Speedbooster router. Now, do I install the disc on my desktop that is not wireless, or my notebook that is wireless...or both????????

just run the set up disk on either, you dont have to have it connected to a computer permanantly though, just do it on your laptop. put the disk in and follow the onscreen instructions, its simple.
if you have any problem just call the 1800 number on the box, that is if you can understand their accent.
good luck :)

There are no silly questions. All are worthy of the asking.

Very funny thing is that Mac, GNU/Linux ( http://pclinuxos.com is my favorite, for all the East Brooke 2nd and 3rd grade class and their mommies!), and BSD (well, this IS Mac) users number in the millions, and there are no included CDroms for them!

That CDrom simply sets up Windows Broadband Control Panel.
It would be OK on a laptop, if you roam like to Starbucks, or McDonalds... anywhere there is wifi. Always make sure to sign OFF! Otherwise, when your laptop leavesthe signal area, it keeps seeking signals.

So, any of the computers would do it for controlling the thing, pick the one that stays connected to the thing, with the cat5 network cable.

Then, you open a firefox browser (trust me, it is safer!) and it is free from http://getfirefox.com

You enter 192.168.1.1 in the browser address window, to get it to open, and the first time, the user will be admin and the password admin...

CHANGE THEM BOTH! Everyone in the world knows the passwords that products ship with! If left as shipped, you will be 'owned' in about 22 minutes, or sooner. The huge list http://www.phenoelit.de/dpl/dpl.html is published daily on the net, from Germany, and, similarly, 57 other countries!

Microsoft makes simple things so complicated!
Ah, well, they are convicted felons as a corporation and as a person, a historical first in the USA!

you don't have to use the disk at all. all you need to do is plug the modem into the router. plugg both computers into the router and XP will detect a new network connection. when it does this, select yes for it. do not cancel it or anything else. 5 minutes and both ewill be online.
