Can you? I tried to breed misquito larvae but it won't seem to work. I set two plastic bowls outside. I've had them out for about 3 week. No larvae yet. How can I attract mosquitoes to lay their eggs in the bowl so I can feed it to my female betta? Also how can I make sure the larvae is healthy?

She doesn't like hard boiled egg yolk and she doesn't like the food I tried to feed her today. When she doesn't like a food she spits it out sooo will she eat guppy fry or mosquito larvae?

sure. bettas loooove live food! the wiggling and swimming excites them, i think. fish fry are a good source of protein
you can also buy mosquito larvae from fish stores, or other frozen foods.
i used to catch fruit flies and drop them in my fishie's bowl, he loved them!!

Try adding a few rotten old leaves to the bowls of water, the adult mosquitos may not want to lay eggs there because there is no food for the larvae. Also, make sure that the bowls are in a shady corner, damp if possible.
Until you get some larvae, have you thought about trying frozen or dried bloodworms? Many pet shops sell them, and bettas absolutely love the stuff.

I have my male betta in the 29 gallon community tank with the guppies, that constantly burst with fry.
He's yet to eat any babies. It's not a very good source of protein for them and it's very hard to digest (with all the bones).
I'd suggest against it,but that's just my two cents.

Nope. A Guppy is too big for a Beta.
Stick to Betta flakes or live food like blood worm.

I would say no. Try feeding your Betta fish BeetaMin tropical medley, Betta premium food, or sun dried shrimp! My Betta fish loves all of them! Good luck!*

I don't think it will eat it. my Betta spits his food out to and I read on the Internet that you can add guppies with Betta's just fine.

i would think betta would eat fish fry -- if you still have your pellets around try pushing it around in the water to make the betta think its alive. just push it down and around until you get their attention. they aren't rocket scientists. and once you get them eating pellets they are good with them. i feed mine pellets and frozen bloodworms. never had one refuse a frozen bloodworm. hold them at the top of the water with tweezers and they will go for them. bettas aren't bottom feeders so they might ignore food that falls to the bottom.

you can buy mosquito larvae in the petstore.. they sell it frozen.. ask a clerk because they sometimes call it by different names... they need more than that though.. they need meat as well as vegitable diet... its easier to buy the pellets.. and alot less messy

I have found that it is best just to buy small beta food pellets, a lot of betas do not like other food.
