Most of the war was fought in the South. Specifically, the part of the south from the Mississippi River to the Atlantic Ocean .
Ironically the two largest battles were fought in what were considered to be Northern States. Those battles were Antietam which was fought in Maryland in 1862 and Gettysburg which of course was fought in Pennsylvania in 1863. There were some skirmishes in some western states like Kansas and there was even a "battle" (that is a gross exaggeration) in California in the little town of Volcano.

Almost entirely in the South. The farthest north that the Confederate Army ever advanced was to Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. The majority of the battles were fought in the middle-southern area.

Nearly all of the important battles happened outside of the Northeast and New England, ranging west and south all the way to Texas and nearly to the Gulf of Mexico. I doubt, off the top of my head, if Florida saw any significant combat. Pennsylvania was probably the northernmost site of an important battle (Gettysburg).
